Storsylen Opp

Friday 16th of August 2013, 6pm Trondheim - Thorlene and I set off for camping in Sylan - it soon starts raining, after 9pm we are at Nedalshytta and found a lovely grassy patch for the tent - raining still.
Saturday 17th of August 2013: 08:30 at Nedalshytta: drizzling, a glimse of sun then again raining - and soon the Storsylen Opp starts -> 11.4 km, 1000 Hm. What is the point to climb on a peak when there is no view? We still lay in our sleeping bags, undecisive. But the crowd gets bigger, forecast still says sun for the noon, and well - we are here, so why not.
So we finally enter in the TRIM class, get our gearing sorted and miss the start by one minute or so. After 80 min we make it to the first drinking stop and soon it is just steep climbing up - which is fine until the very last slippery rock bits - before 11:30 we are on the peak in foggy conditions and a bit disappointed by the weather - and climb down.

Back at the drinking station spot, over 700 Hm descent, we see blue sky and now it just gets at us, many still climb up, so we just go back = up once more - want to have a view at least! And it was worth it - seeing the glacier, the Litl Sylen, Sylstasjn (cabin) and lakes, mountains, rough landscape - once more descending down and now going back all the 9km to Nedalshytta in sunny weather. Perfect!

You never know whether you be there once more!
